As with any SEO task, there is always more that can be done to drive traffic to your site. You may have done the fundamentals correctly i.e. your keyword research and optimisation, but what else can you do to enhance your SEO efforts.
Social Awareness
No, I don't mean go out and help the poor, noble cause that it is, but getting to grips with he new Web 2.0 technologies out there. Youtube is a great traffic driver.
Why not set up a plan where you promote or offer a service using a video capture. One example is a music shop recording local artists playing music and uploading to Youtube. (I will discuss in another article the value of creating a Youtube channel.) This is a great way too offer a service or value to your site.
Image Awareness
Vertical image search is driving more traffic than ever before and is especially good for retail sales. You should make it a new goal to optimise all ALT attributes used in images and give a decent summary. Using the example of the music shop again, from our analysis using google analytics, we see more and more traffic being referred from image search results.
The reason is that some people will search on a Singers name, and look at the image results to view the album cover. This in turn brings in high converting traffic as the clients are well targeted to your product. Use Flickr as your image repository because the search engines love this site.
Refocus on your Goals
Yes, rankings are important, but what visitors do when they reach your site is more valuable. Think outside the box for this one and ask yourself what can provide do that your competitors can't? Again, video marketing is a great way to get your visitors to stick around if you can add some interesting content.
