Why SEO?

What are the reasons for SEO

There are lots of excellent reasons why search engine optimisation should be considered for your website. Have a look at the following stats:

  • A survey from 2008 into internet surfers found that 60% of potential customers use the web as a tool to find local businesses and services. The survey also found that 60% of these customers go on to buy from local businesses.
  • A 2007 study by the Henley Centre in the UK found that 74% of respondents regarded search engines as an important source of on information when considering purchasing a product or service - this represents a higher figure than TV or print media.
  • A study by marketing firm iProspect found that 68% of search engine users are more likely to click on the first page of the results from a query. Less than 10% would consider clicking on the third page results.

I have seen many cases of clients searching on the web for a particular business product or service only to purchase from a direct competitor who has a website with better SEO. Even trivial searches for a business telephone number can lead a customer to a competitors website resulting in the loss of a sale.

The good thing about SEO is that if you follow the rules and tips I give here then you will have a strong site that will grow your brand and bring more customers to your site. It will take a bit of work to get there, but if your willing to commit the time and effort it can done. Conversely, if you don't have the time to put the effort in, you can always hire the services of professional SEO marketeers (like us!) to do the heavy lifting for you.
